About Nanny Spark
A modern nanny search built by a mom who understands great hiring.
Nanny Spark was created by Preet Kaur, a former Head of Product and mom, to bring structure, judgment, and care to one of the most personal hires a family will ever make.
We help Bay Area families define, attract, evaluate, and hire high-caliber, high-fit nannies through a recruitment process designed to support both families and nannies from the start.
Why Nanny Spark exists
I built Nanny Spark because nanny hiring deserved a better system.
Before starting Nanny Spark, I worked in tech as a Head of Product. In that world, great hiring is treated as a serious process. You define the role carefully. You understand the candidate profile. You source intentionally. You screen with structure. You check references. You design the offer thoughtfully. And you set the person up for success after they start.
Then I became a mom.
And I saw how different the nanny hiring experience felt for families.
Parents were expected to make one of the highest-stakes decisions of their family life while caring for a newborn, preparing to return to work, and sorting through Facebook groups, referrals, generic profiles, and unclear agency processes.
That did not make sense to me.
If companies use thoughtful systems to hire for important roles, families deserve an even better system when hiring the person who will care for their child.
That is why I built Nanny Spark.
Mom — and a picky one
I am a mom — and yes, a picky one.
I know what it feels like to think about leaving your child in someone else's care.
The right nanny is not just someone who can cover the hours. The right nanny becomes part of your child's daily world. They shape routines, emotional safety, language, confidence, independence, play, and the way your child experiences their days while you are at work.
As a parent, I would never want to treat that decision casually. As the founder of Nanny Spark, I do not expect other families to either.
That is why our process is built to look beyond availability and years of experience. We care about fit, judgment, reliability, emotional attunement, care philosophy, communication, and whether the nanny is set up to succeed inside that specific family system.
The goal is not just to find someone available. The goal is to find the right person for your child, your home, and the daily care experience you want to create.
The system
A recruitment system designed for high-fit nanny matches.
Nanny Spark is built around a simple belief:
The better we define the role, the better we can find the right person.
Our process starts with role clarity before candidate sourcing. We help families think through job constraints, skill traits, behavioral traits, compensation, schedule, care style, and long-term expectations before we ever present a candidate.
That means we are not simply forwarding profiles.
We are building a search around the family's real needs — and screening candidates for the qualities that make a nanny successful in that specific home.
Job constraints
Schedule, commute, W-2 willingness, vaccination requirements, start date, flexibility, compensation, driving, location, and role logistics.
Skill traits
Infant and toddler experience, developmental awareness, cooking, driving, household support, language needs, specialized experience, and ability to grow with the child.
Behavioral traits
Reliability, punctuality, communication, warmth, emotional attunement, judgment, initiative, flexibility, and care style alignment.
Most of the value happens before the family ever meets a candidate.
What makes us different
We are not a roster-first nanny agency.
Many traditional nanny agencies begin with the candidates they already have.
Nanny Spark starts with the family.
We define the role, build the search strategy, source intentionally, screen deeply, and only introduce candidates when there is real alignment.
For many searches, we screen dozens of candidates so families only spend time with the few who are truly aligned.
High-intent families
We work with families who are serious about hiring well, offering competitive roles, and building long-term nanny relationships.
High-caliber nannies
We look for nannies with strong experience, clear communication, reliability, references, and the ability to provide thoughtful, developmentally supportive care.
High-fit matching
We match across the role, the child, the schedule, the household, the care style, and the long-term expectations — not just availability.
How we support families
Families stay involved in the key decisions. We handle the heavy lift.
Nanny Spark is designed for parents who want an excellent outcome without spending their newborn months running a recruitment process.
We support families through:
- Nanny persona development
- Role and compensation calibration
- Custom job description creation
- Candidate sourcing
- Candidate screening
- Behavioral and childcare-specific interviews
- Candidate scorecards
- Reference checks
- Family interview coordination
- Structured trial support
- Background, motor vehicle, and vaccination check coordination where relevant
- Offer negotiation support
- Contract template and edit support
- Payroll partner referrals
- Onboarding guidance
- Early placement check-ins
You stay close to the decisions that matter. We manage the process that gets you there.
How we support nannies
A great match has to work for the nanny, too.
Long-term placements only work when both the family and the nanny feel respected, informed, and aligned.
That is why Nanny Spark takes candidate experience seriously.
We communicate role expectations clearly. We are transparent about compensation, schedule, responsibilities, and family priorities. We advocate for strong candidates and help families understand what makes each nanny valuable.
We do not want to force a placement that only works on paper. We want the nanny to walk into the role with clarity, confidence, and a real chance to succeed.
Candidate promise
We aim to:
- Communicate clearly
- Share expectations up front
- Advocate for fair, professional roles
- Help nannies understand the family before moving forward
- Help families understand the nanny's strengths
- Support long-term alignment rather than quick placements
When nannies are set up for success, families are set up for success too.
The Nanny Spark standard
What we look for in every search.
Every family is different, and every role requires a different mix of strengths. But the Nanny Spark standard stays consistent. We look for alignment across:
- 01
Safety and trust
Reliable, legally eligible, reference-backed candidates who can be trusted in a family's home.
- 02
Child-development awareness
Nannies who understand that care is not just supervision. It is emotional support, routines, play, language, growth, independence, and development.
- 03
Communication
A nanny-family relationship needs clear, respectful communication from the beginning.
- 04
Long-term fit
The goal is not just to solve next month's childcare problem. The goal is to create a care relationship that can grow with the child.
- 05
Mutual respect
Families and nannies both deserve a process that is clear, professional, and fair.

At a glance
- Former Head of Product
- Mom to a young daughter
- Founder of Nanny Spark
- Focused on Bay Area infant and toddler nanny searches
- Builder of the Nanny Spark Signature Nanny Search process
Preet Kaur is the founder of Nanny Spark, a premium nanny recruitment service supporting Bay Area families hiring long-term infant and toddler nannies.
Before founding Nanny Spark, Preet worked as a Head of Product in tech, where she built systems, led teams, and learned how much thoughtful process matters when hiring for important roles.
After becoming a mom, she saw how overwhelming nanny hiring could feel for families — especially for parents returning to work after having a baby. She built Nanny Spark to bring the clarity, structure, and rigor of professional recruitment into the deeply personal world of childcare.
Preet is known for being high-touch, deeply invested, and unusually thorough. Her goal is simple: help families find nannies they can deeply trust, while setting both the family and nanny up for long-term success.
Trust and proof
Trusted by families who value thoughtful hiring.
Nanny Spark works with high-performing Bay Area families who understand that great hiring takes clarity, process, and judgment.
“We didn't know what questions to ask. You did.”
As first-time parents we went in completely blind — we didn't even know what we didn't know. Preet helped us understand what to look for, what to ask in interviews, and what actually matters when you're hiring someone to care for an infant. That guidance alone made the whole process feel manageable.
“It felt like the exact process I would design — with none of the work for me.”
The process distinguished clearly between must-haves and nice-to-haves, included thoughtful guidance on structuring the role, and made a stressful search feel organized and manageable.
“More hands-on than any agency we looked at — including the established ones.”
We reached out to a few services at the same time. The others had a structured process, but it felt like they were following someone else's checklist. The depth of pre-screening here was on a completely different level — every candidate who made it to us had already been through something serious.
“We found our dream nanny.”
Nanny Spark took the time to understand our family needs, provided candidate profiles that met those needs, and handled the interviews, reference checks, background checks, contracts, and even a home manual/checklist.
“You turned something I would have had to drive into something you drove.”
Families stay involved where it matters, but Nanny Spark manages the momentum, coordination, and heavy lift.
“The nanny trials changed everything. Two hours told us more than weeks of resumes.”
We went in skeptical about what a two-hour trial could actually show us. The answer was: everything. Watching someone interact with our son made concrete what had been completely theoretical before. We wished we had started there.
“I know a great recruiter when I see one. From our very first conversation, I knew.”
I'm an engineering manager — I work with recruiters every day. Preet has a clear process but it feels flexible, not rigid. Responsive, thoughtful, and I felt like a priority from day one. That combination is rarer than it sounds.
“We only met two candidates. We would have happily hired either one.”
The filtering that happened before we saw anyone was clearly enormous. Every person who made it to us was genuinely great. That's the work we didn't have to do — and with a newborn at home, that mattered more than I can say.
“We'd tried the DIY route and a traditional agency. When we finally talked to Preet, it was: 'Ah yes. Finally.'”
Individual sourcing with a newborn is exhausting. The agency we tried just sent whoever was on their roster. Preet actively posted for our specific role, filtered for our specific needs, and made us feel like the search was actually moving.
