About the family

Fun, outdoors-loving San Carlos family with two school-age kids (Grades 4 & 2) and a friendly goldendoodle. One child is neurodivergent and thrives with calm structure, support for behavior regulation during transitions/periods of waiting, and coaching around impulse control in stimulating settings. They’re seeking a loving, detail-oriented nanny who makes the kids feel cared for while also holding firm, consistent boundaries when it’s time to learn or stop an activity. They love being outside and value clear communication and a respectful, kind home environment. The family has had two long-term nannies and is now looking for their next long-term teammate - expect a respectful, supportive partnership with a loving family of go-getters.

Schedule & Hours (split schedule is required)

Core hours:

  • Monday to Friday Mornings: 7:00–9:00 AM (breakfast, get-ready, walk/bike drop-offs, quick kitchen reset)

  • Monday to Friday Afternoons: 1:00–7:00 PM (home reset, snack/decompression, Grade 4 homework, activities/park, dinner, next-day prep)

Daily Tasks:

  • AM (7:00-9:00 AM): Prepare simple breakfast → coach morning routine → walk younger child to school (~6 min each way) while older child bikes independently → post-breakfast cleanup.

  • Pre-pickup (1:00–3:00 PM): load/unload the dishwasher; laundry and folding (twice a week); quick tidy of the kids’ living area; vacuum and sweep the living area (twice a week); run errands as needed; pack next-day lunches and school snacks (e.g., sandwiches); cook healthy dinner (pasta, tacos, quesadillas, with fruit/veg on the side); tidy the kids’ rooms and make beds; clean the coffee maker.

  • After school (3:00–7:00): Snack + decompression → Grade 4 homework help → drive to activities and remain on-site with kids (~2 hours) → return home, finish dinner → kids eat while the kitchen is tidied → backpacks prepped for tomorrow.

What you’ll do

Child-focused

  • Run a calm, predictable routine: snack + decompression → homework/reading buddy → activities/park/bikes → kid-involved dinner.

  • Be a transition pro: preview changeovers, keep things moving, use positive reinforcement (token/prize system) and loving, firm boundaries.

  • Get outside! Explore playgrounds

  • Drive for school/activities/errands and remain on-site with kids for activities(paid).

Family-assistant (primarily before the kids are home in the afternoon)

  • Kitchen reset, dishwasher, laundry (set days), tidying, simple dinner prep, kid-space resets, backpack prep, light errands.

  • Housecleaning: Load/unload the dishwasher; quick tidy of the kids’ living area; vacuum and sweep the living area (twice a week); tidy the kids’ rooms and make beds; clean the coffee maker; wipe kitchen counters & dining table, take out trash / compost / recycling when full.

  • Laundry and folding twice a week.

  • Cooking: Cooking breakfast (eg: oatmeal), lunch (eg: sandwiches) and dinner (eg: pasta, quesadillas with veg/fruit)for kids

  • Run errands as needed (eg: drop off returns (UPS, Fedex))

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Loving + boundaried (warm 95% of the time, steady and consistent when it counts).

  • Rock-solid consistent: reliable, on-time, follows through.

  • Fantastic with transitions and emotional regulation coaching.

  • Proactive/meticulous: checklists, staying organized, staying a step ahead.

  • Outdoorsy & active, comfortable with Grade 4 homework.

  • Experienced with ASD/ADHD/anxiety and positive behavior supports.

  • Safe, insured driver with clean record.

  • CPR/First Aid (or willing to update).

  • Background-check ready.

  • Dog-friendly.
