About the Family
This is a thoughtful, engaged family relocating from New York to the Bay Area. Both parents value intentional, high-quality childcare and are looking for a nanny who sees early childhood as a critical developmental stage and can be their partner in it for their son. The family has a friendly golden retriever as well (no pet care required).
This is a long-term position (minimum one year), with potential to grow as the family plans for a second child.

Responsibilities
Childcare & Development
Design and implement age-appropriate learning activities.
Proactively assess developmental milestones and suggest focus areas (weekly).
Support speech and language development through songs, books, narration, and sign language reinforcement
Encourage fine and gross motor development through intentional play.
Foster independence while maintaining safety and structure.
Maintain a low-screen, high-engagement environment focused on active play and connection.

Noticing emerging developmental needs and adjusting daily activities.
Proposing toys, books, and activities aligned with milestones.
Creating a loose weekly activity plan and adapting it as the child grows.
Sharing thoughtful developmental observations with parents proactively.
Outings & Socialization
Daily outings such as parks and playgrounds.
Attend and transport child to:
Music classes
Gym / movement classes
Playdates with other children
Proactively build a healthy social routine with other nanny families.
Child-Related Household Support
Child’s laundry
Light meal prep for the child
Tidying child-related areas
Preparing activities during nap time
Schedule
Sample Daily Schedule (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
8:00–9:00 AM: Morning transition, diapering, free play with narration, breakfast & self-feeding practice
9:00–10:15 AM: Outdoor play / park time, gross motor activities, social exposure
10:15–11:30 AM: Snack, diaper change, structured learning play (language, fine motor, sensory)
11:30 AM–12:00 PM: Lunch and calm transition
12:00–2:00 PM: Nap time (nanny rests and can manage child-related activity prep and food planning)
2:00–3:30 PM: Wake-up routine, snack, afternoon outing or class (park, music, gym, playdate)
3:30–4:00 PM: Wind-down play, tidying child areas, parent handoff and daily recap
This schedule is a guiding framework and is expected to evolve as the child’s developmental needs change.
Following flexibility will be appreciated:
Extra hour/day during business travel (approx. 5–6 times per year)
Optional evening or weekend babysitting about once per month

Required Qualifications
Prior nanny, daycare, and/ or preschool experience
Experience caring for toddlers (7-10 years)
CPR & First Aid certified
Clean background check
Clean driving record
Comfortable with dogs
Non-smoker
Compensation
$35–$42/hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Paid trial day required before final offer
