About the Family

This is a thoughtful, professional family based in San Francisco’s SoMa neighbourhood. Both parents work in the tech industry and want to focus on creating a warm, curious, and stimulating environment for their son.

They are seeking a long-term nanny who sees early childhood as an important developmental stage and enjoys actively engaging with children through play, movement, language, and exploration.

The family hopes to build a collaborative relationship with the nanny who will become a trusted and consistent presence in their baby boy’s life as he grows from infancy into toddlerhood.

Newborn baby boy will be about 3–4 months old at the start of the position.

The family hopes to raise him in an environment that includes:

  • Daily outdoor exploration.

  • Physical activity and movement.

  • Language development (Mandarin & English).

The goal is to create a childhood that balances intellectual curiosity with active play, outdoor experiences, and joyful exploration.

Schedule

This is a guaranteed hour position with overtime paid according to California domestic worker regulations.

Core Hours

Monday – Friday
9:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Flexible Hours

Additional coverage from 6:00–7:00 PM on some weekdays (At least one day’s advance notice will be provided).

Responsibilities

Childcare & Development

Provide attentive, nurturing care for the baby as he grows from infant to toddler.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing daily routines (feeding, diapering, naps).

  • Encouraging physical movement and outdoor exploration.

  • Supporting early developmental milestones.

  • Reading, singing, and engaging in language-rich interaction.

  • Creating a stimulating, playful learning environment.

Outdoor Activities & Social Development

The family strongly values active outdoor childhood experiences.

The following activities will be central part of your role:

  • Take the baby outside daily (walks, parks, playgrounds).

  • Attend baby classes or activities when age appropriate.

  • Arrange playdates and social opportunities.

  • Encourage gross motor development through active play.

A nanny who genuinely enjoys being outdoors and physically active will thrive in this role.

Mandarin Language Environment

Fluency in Mandarin and English is required for this role.

The nanny will help create a Mandarin-speaking environment during the day so the baby develops comfort and familiarity with the language from an early age.

Mandarin is also helpful for communication with visiting grandparents.

Child-Related Household Tasks

The family has cleaners who come twice a week, so the nanny’s focus is primarily on childcare.

Expected responsibilities include:

  • Tidying child-related spaces.

  • Preparing or warming simple meals/snacks for the baby as he grows.

  • Loading bottles or dishes into the dishwasher.

  • Organizing toys and activity areas.
