Part-Time Afternoon/Evening Nanny & Family Assistant

About the Role

A warm San Francisco family is seeking a proactive and highly dependable afternoon/evening nanny and family assistant to support their infant, toddler, and busy household.

The role will begin with light family-assistant support before transitioning into school and daycare pickups, childcare, dinner, and the children's evening routines.

The family needs care on three consistent weekdays selected from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The final days will be agreed upon with the selected candidate and will remain consistent from week to week. Wednesday and Thursday availability is especially helpful.

The ideal candidate will be confident managing multiple moving pieces while remaining warm, attentive, and genuinely engaged with the children.

Core Responsibilities

Childcare

• Safely pick up the children from school and daycare.
• Confidently navigate San Francisco traffic and coordinate multiple pickup locations.
• Provide attentive care for both an infant and a toddler.
• Support bottles, diaper changes, meals, and age-appropriate routines.
• Prepare and serve simple meals and snacks for the children.
• Patiently support picky eating and positive mealtime routines.
• Assist with potty learning when developmentally appropriate.
• Engage the children through play, books, music, conversation, and age-appropriate activities.
• Support transitions, emotional regulation, and developing independence.
• Help with dinner, bath time, and evening routines.
• Maintain the family's limited-screen approach and offer only parent-approved programming.
• Communicate important updates through the family's preferred childcare application.

Family-Assistant Support

Before pickups and whenever childcare responsibilities allow:

• Prepare or assemble simple family meals by following recipes.
• Prepare child-friendly foods and snacks.
• Complete family or children's laundry, including folding and organizing.
• Reset commonly used household areas.
• Keep children's belongings, supplies, and activity spaces organized.
• Follow the family's existing labels and organizational systems.
• Assist with occasional small household organization projects.
• Use shared calendars, AnyList, or childcare applications to coordinate household needs.
• Clean up after completed tasks and help prepare the home for the evening.

The priority order will always be safe and timely pickups, attentive childcare, dinner and evening routines, followed by family-assistant responsibilities as time permits.

• Be reliable, punctual, and disciplined about arriving on time.
• Be proactive and comfortable identifying what needs to be done next.
• Be organized, time-efficient, and capable of managing several responsibilities.
• Communicate openly and confidently with the parents.
• Bring a friendly, expressive, and engaging personality into the home.
• Be patient, kind, empathetic, and emotionally attuned.
• Be playful and energetic while maintaining structure and boundaries.
• Support a neuro-affirming approach to behavior and discipline.
• Feel comfortable following the parents' routines and agreed-upon approaches.
• Present a consistent and united approach with the parents in front of the children.
• Be comfortable receiving feedback and discussing challenges directly.
• Be comfortable using family applications, shared lists, and basic household technology.
• Be pet-friendly and comfortable working in a home with a spaniel — no regular dog-care duties are required.
• Be a non-smoker and non-vaper.
• Live within a reliable commuting distance of Noe Valley.
• Hold current CPR and First Aid certification, or be willing to obtain it.
• Meet the family's vaccination requirements.

Experience with potty learning is appreciated. Mandarin language ability is a bonus but is not required.

Additional Availability

Occasional availability for pre-scheduled weekday date nights or weekend evening care is appreciated. Any additional hours will be discussed in advance and paid separately from the regular guaranteed schedule.

Optional family travel may also be available a few times per year but is not required.

Position Details

• $35–$42 per hour, depending on experience.
• 15 guaranteed hours per week.
• Three consistent weekdays selected from Monday through Thursday.
• W-2 household employment.
• Live-out position.
• One-year commitment preferred.
• Long-term potential for the right candidate.

Candidates may apply for the morning position, the afternoon/evening position, or both. A candidate selected for both roles would receive 24 guaranteed hours per week.
