About the Role
A warm, thoughtful family in Pleasanton is hiring a full-time nanny/family assistant to support their three children: a toddler, a 4.5-year-old, and a 6.5-year-old. The toddler will be in school/care for most of the nanny's working hours, so the role is centered on strong preschool and school-age care rather than infant or toddler-intensive work.
This role is best suited for someone who brings calm, kind, highly engaged care into the home while also helping the household run smoothly. The strongest fit is a nanny who enjoys children in the 4–7 age range, is confident managing a busy schedule with multiple children and activities, and genuinely loves creating enriching, learning-forward experiences throughout the day.
The family is looking for someone who is patient, warm, and emotionally attuned — someone who builds trust with children before redirecting, uses kind language, and notices and affirms positive behavior. Connection and warmth are foundational to how this household runs.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM–4:45 PM
- 45 guaranteed hours per week
- Schedule remains consistent through both the school year and summer
- Summer camp schedules may vary week to week — flexibility and strong time management required
Typical Responsibilities
Childcare & Activity Support
- Warm, engaged care for children before and after school/camp.
- School and activity drop-offs and pick-ups.
- Safe driving to children's activities: swimming, soccer, gymnastics, tennis.
- Planning and leading simple, age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities — library visits, parks, biking, playdates, games, crafts, baking, science experiments, creative projects.
- Supporting playdates and child-centered outings.
- Involving children in age-appropriate household routines such as folding laundry, baking, and organizing toys as learning and connection opportunities.
- Maintaining a calm, structured, neuro-affirming approach with warm boundaries.
- Full presence with children during working hours — no personal phone use while supervising, driving, or actively engaging with kids.
Household & Child-Related Support
- Children's laundry and folding.
- Toy organization and tidying play areas.
- Light kitchen clean-up after breakfast.
- Helping children build independence with everyday household routines.
- Homework help is a welcome bonus.
Driving
Driving is one of the most important parts of this position. The nanny must be a safe, reliable driver who is comfortable transporting children to and from school, camps, and activities. The preferred setup is for the nanny to use their own reliable vehicle with mileage reimbursement. A family vehicle may be available for the right candidate if needed.
Childcare Style & Engagement
This role is best suited for a nanny who is truly present with children throughout the day — setting up experiments, helping with projects, reading together, supporting outdoor time, and weaving learning into everyday routines. Personal phone use should be limited to communication, navigation, photos/updates, or emergencies.
The family uses a neuro-affirming approach with strong, respectful boundaries. The nanny should model the qualities the children are being encouraged to develop: kindness, patience, curiosity, emotional safety, and calm communication. Connection and trust come first.

- A clear communicator who receives feedback well.
- Comfortable with a neuro-affirming discipline approach.

- Interested in a stable, long-term role with a thoughtful family.
Experience & Requirements
- Expert-level experience with preschool and school-age children, especially ages 4–7.
- Strong behavior management skills with warm, respectful boundaries.
- Experience supporting a neuro-affirming care approach, or genuine willingness to follow it closely.
