About the Role

A warm San Francisco family is seeking an exceptional full-time, long-term nanny for their active and curious 6-month-old son.

The family is looking for someone who combines excellent infant-care experience with genuine initiative and developmental engagement. This is a wonderful opportunity for a nanny who loves watching babies grow, enjoys getting out of the house, and naturally thinks ahead about what a child may be ready to explore next.

Both parents have demanding careers, so they are looking for a nanny they can trust to take ownership of their son's day-to-day care while keeping them informed and involved in important decisions.

Schedule

Tuesday–Friday, 8:45 AM–6:45 PM.
40 guaranteed hours per week.
Target start date: Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Long-term position.

Language Requirements

This family is raising their son with Mandarin as an important part of his language environment. The nanny must:

Be fluent in English and Mandarin.
Comfortably communicate with both English- and Mandarin-speaking family members.
Naturally speak Mandarin with the baby throughout the day for language immersion.
Use conversation, narration, songs, books, and play to provide rich Mandarin exposure.
Be comfortable communicating detailed updates and observations to the parents in English.

The family is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys talking, singing, reading, and interacting with children, rather than simply someone who is able to speak Mandarin when needed.

Core Responsibilities

Engaged & Developmentally Appropriate Care

Provide warm, responsive, attentive infant care.
Observe the baby's cues, temperament, interests, and developmental progress.
Adapt activities and routines as his needs evolve.
Engage in frequent floor play and age-appropriate developmental activities.
Read, sing, talk, narrate, and interact throughout wake windows.
Introduce age-appropriate books, music, sensory activities, movement, toys, and experiences.
Proactively share observations, ideas, and developmental opportunities with the parents.
Proactively plan activities and outings for the week.
Provide a thoughtful daily update covering activities, outings, meals, naps, and meaningful observations from the day.

Outings & Enrichment

This family strongly values getting their child out of the house and exposing him to varied experiences. The nanny should genuinely enjoy researching and planning outings such as:

Parks and outdoor walks.
Libraries and story times.
Infant classes.
Playgroups.
Museums and community activities.
Nature outings.
Other age-appropriate activities around San Francisco.

The family will give their nanny considerable autonomy to find and suggest activities rather than providing a daily itinerary.

The nanny should also be comfortable independently navigating San Francisco with a child, including walking, driving, and using MUNI/public transportation when it is the most practical way to reach activities and outings.

Solids & Mealtimes

As their son begins solids, the nanny will help make food exploration a positive part of his development. Responsibilities include:

Preparing simple, age-appropriate foods.
Helping introduce a variety of foods and textures according to the parents' preferences.
Supporting both spoon-feeding and age-appropriate self-feeding experiences.
Making mealtimes interactive and enjoyable.
Cleaning the baby and feeding areas after meals.
Washing the baby's dishes and utensils.

Advanced cooking is not required. The family is looking for someone who is comfortable and enthusiastic about supporting a growing baby's transition to solids.

Daily Infant Care

Bottles and feeding.
Nap routines.
Diapering.
Bottle washing and sanitizing.
Baby laundry approximately once per week or as needed.
Child-related tidying.
Keeping feeding, play, and nursery areas organized.
Cleaning toys and other frequently used baby items as needed.
Resetting the baby's spaces during nap periods.
Cleaning up after meals and activities.
Occasional baths as needed, particularly after messy meals or activities.

Compensation & Benefits

$40–$45 per hour, depending on experience.
W-2 household employment.
40 guaranteed hours per week.

Requirements

English and Mandarin fluency.
Experience caring for babies beyond the newborn stage.
Strong age-appropriate infant-care experience and genuine interest in supporting a baby's development through play, language, movement, food exploration, and new experiences.
Demonstrated ability to independently plan activities and outings.
Comfortable independently navigating San Francisco, including public transit.
Comfortable preparing simple infant foods and supporting solids.
Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
Comfortable driving to activities and outings.
CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to renew before starting.
Comfortable with lifting, carrying, floor play, stroller outings, and the physical demands of caring for a growing child.
Non-smoker.
Comfortable collaborating with parents and extended family.
Able to commit to a long-term position.
