About the Family

Thoughtful, first-time parents in San Francisco are seeking a full-time nanny for their infant son. Both parents are highly engaged, hands-on, and value building a strong, respectful partnership with their nanny.

This is a long-term role (1–2+ years) for someone who is reliable, calm, observant, and deeply attuned to a child's development. The home is collaborative, considerate, and low-pressure. There is no expectation to stay constantly busy when the baby is resting. The focus is on quality of care, not constant activity.

Typical Responsibilities

Childcare

  • Provide attentive, safety-focused care for the baby.
  • Manage feeding (bottles → solids), diapering, and naps.
  • Maintain a calm, consistent daily routine.

Development & Engagement

  • Support early developmental milestones (motor, sensory, independence).
  • Introduce solids thoughtfully and safely.
  • Engage in age-appropriate play, reading, and interaction.
  • Encourage independence and exploration in a safe, supportive way.

Observation & Communication

  • Share regular updates on sleep, feeding, behavior, and development.
  • Offer thoughtful observations and suggestions ('what' + 'why').
  • Partner with parents to adapt routines over time.

Child-Related Household Tasks

  • Baby laundry.
  • Bottle cleaning and organization.
  • Tidying toys and baby-related areas.

Ideal Candidate

  • Highly reliable and punctual.
  • Patient, kind, emotionally attuned.
  • Observant and proactive.
  • Collaborative.
  • Calm and steady.
  • Developmentally thoughtful.

Experience & Requirements

  • Strong infant care experience (multiple years preferred).
  • Comfortable supporting development from infancy into toddler years.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Up-to-date vaccinations (TDAP, MMR, flu, etc.).
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Able to pass a background check.
  • Non-smoker.

Nice to Have

  • Hindi-speaking is a strong bonus (not required).
  • Familiarity with Montessori or independence-focused approaches.
  • Experience preparing simple cultural foods (rice, dal).

Home Environment

The family lives in a highly walkable San Francisco neighborhood — parks, libraries, outings, and transit are all close. The nanny will be encouraged to take the baby on regular walks and outings; no driving required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $38–$45/hour depending on experience and fit.
  • 45 guaranteed hours per week.
  • Legal W-2 employment.
  • Accrued paid vacation and sick time.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Optional healthcare stipend.
  • Workers' compensation coverage.
