About the Family

Thoughtful, engaged family relocating from New York to the Bay Area. Both parents value intentional, high-quality childcare and are looking for a nanny who sees early childhood as a critical developmental stage and can be their partner in it. The family has a friendly golden retriever (no pet care required).

Long-term position (minimum one year), with potential to grow as the family plans for a second child.

About the Child

  • 13-month-old toddler.
  • Very active; strong gross motor development (early walker).
  • Curious, playful, engaged.

Current developmental focus areas:

  • Speech & expressive language.
  • Fine motor skills.
  • Socialization with peers.
  • Continued gross motor development.

What the Family Is Looking For

  • Take initiative without needing daily direction.
  • Actively plan activities and routines.
  • Observe developmental milestones and adjust accordingly.
  • Bring ideas, suggestions, and recommendations (toys, books, activities).
  • Create a joyful, stimulating environment.

Ideal for someone with daycare or preschool experience who loves being a nanny and focusing on one child at a time.

Responsibilities

Childcare & Development

  • Design and implement age-appropriate learning activities.
  • Assess developmental milestones and suggest weekly focus areas.
  • Support speech and language development (songs, books, narration, sign language).
  • Encourage fine and gross motor development through intentional play.
  • Foster independence while maintaining safety and structure.
  • Maintain a low-screen, high-engagement environment.

Outings & Socialization

  • Daily outings (parks, playgrounds).
  • Music classes, gym/movement classes, playdates.
  • Proactively build a healthy social routine with other nanny families.

Child-Related Household Support

  • Child's laundry.
  • Light meal prep for the child.
  • Tidying child-related areas.
  • Preparing activities during nap time.

Sample Daily Schedule (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

  • 8:00–9:00 AM: Morning transition, diapering, free play with narration, breakfast.
  • 9:00–10:15 AM: Outdoor play / park time, gross motor activities.
  • 10:15–11:30 AM: Snack, diaper change, structured learning play.

  • 2:00–3:30 PM: Wake-up routine, snack, afternoon outing or class.
  • 3:30–4:00 PM: Wind-down play, tidying, parent handoff.

This schedule is a guiding framework and will evolve with the child's needs.
